FAQ
Short answers to the questions we are asked most.
Is PORTION live?
No. PORTION is in development. Contracts are not deployed and $PRTN is not live. The simulator runs the protocol locally with no transactions.
What exactly is a portion?
An ERC-1155 token that represents a fixed amount of future capacity from one x402 endpoint, such as 10M tokens of Llama-70B inference usable until 31 December 2026. It is burned as you use it.
Why would a provider sell below spot?
To be paid now instead of per request later, and to sell capacity it has not yet been asked for. The discount is the cost of that cash and that certainty.
What happens if the provider goes offline?
Watchers attest, a 24-hour dispute window opens and trading stops. If the failure stands, the bond is seized and holders are refunded in USDC for unused units, up to what the bond covers.
Will I get all my money back if a provider fails?
Not necessarily. Refunds are capped by the bond, which is a fraction of the value issued, 20 % by default. See Risks.
Can I use a portion outside x402?
No. Consumption goes through the provider's x402 endpoint and the Redeemer contract. You can always sell the portion instead.
Does PORTION run GPUs?
No. PORTION runs no infrastructure. Providers operate their endpoints; PORTION tokenises their capacity and enforces delivery with bonds.
Which chains are supported?
Base only. Payments settle in USDC on Base.
What are the fees?
0.75 % of each sale, primary and secondary, in USDC. Half goes to $PRTN stakers, half to buy & burn. Nothing else. See Fees.
Where will the $PRTN contract address be published?
Only on x.com/PortionBase. Treat any other source as unverified.
